Please remember that we are all Democrats. In the end we all have similar ideas. United we are strong and can rebuilt this country to be stronger, divided we will fall and suffer the problems that have plagued us for eight years.
A great act in itself will rarely change the world, but a thousand small acts will. If you see something that needs change, do what you can and encourage others to join you. The might of the many can change the world, regardless of rank.
I am worried about this weekend. We have to be very careful how we handle this delegate matter. Are we the party that breaks its pledge? Will we disenfranchise thousand of voters? The two conflict each other. If we are not careful this will come back to haunt us. If done correctly this could show how clever we are at solving tough problems and how we CAN come together to solve problems. Let us use this as an example of how we can do great things. Let us make this a moment of how we can shine, an example of what can be done with the leadership in out party.
Worried is an understatment! I believe that the DNC can figure out a way to distribute these delegates that is fair to both candidates. My concern is that Senator Clinton will still push for the seating of the full delegation at the Democratic Convention. I don’t understand how Senator Clinton agreed to these rules, but now is making it seem as though Senator Obama is attempting to disenfranchise voters. We are straddling a very thin line, but I do hope we will show our decisiveness while still maintaining our integrity to the rules.
Daily Thought:
Our word should count for something more than a headline in the news for now, only to be broken when it no longer suits an individual need. Our word should be our bound. Trust is an important factor in leadership. If there is no trust in our leaders, then people lose hope and a disconnect starts to form between the people and our leaders. This has been the case for eight years, please don’t continue this cycle. Let us break this trend and demand more from our leaders, accountability for their word!!!
Daily Thought:
Please remember I have never given an interview. I am waiting to see the interview in the Sun News tomorrow. Please give me your comments.
I am glad to see that Florida and Michigan will be at the convention. It won’t be the same without them. I think we are starting to roll forward. In time the momentum will be unstoppable.
I feel the progress and unity of the democratic party growing. In time the momentum will carry us to the white house and a majority in the senate and House.
Emotions run high right after a victory or defeat. Do not be quick to judge ones actions right after such event. It is best to let the emotions run their course and then see what is left.
Daily Thought:
This is a great move for the party. Here is an email I got from Howard Dean:
Dear Friend,
I wanted to drop you a quick note about a major policy change here at the Democratic Party.
As we move toward the general election, the Democratic Party has to be the Party of ordinary Americans, not Washington lobbyists and special interests. So, as of this morning, if you’re a federal lobbyist, or if you control political action committee donations, we won’t be accepting your contribution.
This is an unprecedented move for a political party to make — one that has sent shockwaves through Washington and has turned the debate on clean campaigns upside down. We’ve unilaterally agreed to shut lobbyists out of the process, and are we’re relying on people just like you.
Just imagine what hundreds of thousands of Americans donating $20, $30, or $50 at a time can accomplish together. Imagine the signal that it sends to anyone who looks at John McCain’s political machine and the special interest money it needs to fuel every move it makes.
We have a chance to change the way business is done in this country, and we’re taking the lead. Will you join us and make a contribution right now to help us elect Barack Obama?
I’ve written before about guys like Charlie Black and Rick Davis, lobbyists who are at the highest levels of McCain’s campaign. But they’re just the start — John McCain and the RNC suck up lobbyist money millions of dollars at a time.
In May, McCain had his best fundraising month of the campaign, and it was directly because he refuses to shut special interests out.
But we did, and we need your help. This is an example of the kind of White House Barack Obama would run. Make a contribution to help elect him:
Is it better to think all is well and peaceful between everyone or is the truth better. Sometimes I like to think naively and think the best of people. The truth is never what you really expect and often lets me down.
Daily Thought:
We need to do a better job with our civic duties. When less than 20% turn out to vote, it doesn’t allow us to select the best person for the job, only those people that have the most motivated people. Let us try to reach 80% turnout in November.
Daily Thought:
I have spend a good potion of my weekend making spreadsheets comparing the democratic turnout and Republican turnout in South Carolina. After I have looked over the numbers, I have one bit of advice.
All democratic candidates need to work together. When you talk about Obama, don’t forget the state candidates (Bob Conley and Linda Ketner). Look up talking points on them as well. Only together can we bring about change and hope for a better future.
Daily Thought:
Don’t just talk about the problem, try to do something to stop the problem. Get involved in the democratic party, volunteer for a campaign, or donate to your candidates. These are all ways in which we can bring about the change we need!!!
Daily Thought:
As we near the birthday of our county, please don;t forget everyone that has helped make this country what it is. We are the beacon of hope for so many, let us make sure we make are light even stronger than if has been.
It is a sure sign of desperation when a candidate can’t talk about the issues, but has to make up stories. If this is what Obama’s opponent is up to, then we have won. It is sad to see the depth one will go to win, sometimes you have to ask if the degradation of your own character is worth it.
Fellow Democrats,
As this historic convention draws ever closer, I would like to remind you of local democrats that are running for office. They need our support and most importantly they need donations. Money is the key factor in continuing their campaign and getting their name/message known. We are a few months away from the November election and these candidates need our financial assistance to help them continue on the campaign trail. Below is a list of democrats that are running for office. Please consider giving whatever you can to help their campaign; it could be pivotal for their continued success in November. Thank you for your time.
I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to represent Horry County at the convention. This is going to be a historic event and I am thrilled that I will play a part in it. Thank you for your support and I look forward to your comments. Please feel free to post a comment, I will always try to get back to you. It is also a good way to communicate with me at the convention.
I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am about Denver. I have everything ready to go. My wife even made me buy two new suits. Please keep checking the site, we will now begin to increase our comments, photos and experiences. I want to share it with everyone from South Carolina. GO OBAMA…..GO DEMOCRATS!!!
Ted’s speech was heart warming. To see him make that speech and how it excited the crowd. Michelle’s speech was commanding. It was a great story about family! I made me miss my wife and daughter.
I know we are behind in the updates, but the internet is dead here. I will put up photos when I get back. I have 200 photos from thursday night alone. Please hang in there
It is hard to put into words what the convention is like. If you watch it on TV you don’t get to feel the emotions of the crowd. There is a lot going on behind the scenes. Many people are talking to each other, getting to know one another. I know that I met a lot of people. It will be hard to remember them all. I speeches have more meaning when you are there, they have a feeling beyond that seen on TV. Ask me the details of these speeches, I would be hard pressed to remember them, but I do know how they felt, how they made the crowd feel. In the past I have watched speeches on TV and I can remember them well, but in person there is just too many things to take in to remember them in great detail. I am struck by how many people were over joyed to see an African American nominated for president of the United States. Many never thought they would see it in their life time, I am one of them. To witness and be part of history is an experience that will remain with me to my death. I am overwhelmed by the experience and doubt I will every meet its equal again. Thank you for this Horry. Many of you helped me get here and I am in your debt. I have brought back posters and buttons for fundraisers. Please enjoy this site. In the future more photos and videos will be added by others at the convention the convention that have agreed to provide more photos of me at the convention. ENJOY
